A fully professionally serviced and beautiful German Torpedo 18a typewriter from 1950, in very beautiful, uncommon ruby red color. It is a stunning piece, museum quality in great condition!
*TYPEFACE: Pica typeface (10cpi). QWERTZ German-English keyboard, it has the letter "Y" in a different place than QWERTY keyboards. Serial n. 501 xxx.
*COSMETICS: This typewriter is in excellent condition. It had very few to no scratches or missing paint. It really is one of the best Torpedo's we have had serviced in our workshop! All the glass keys are clear, shiny and clean. The chrome plated metal parts have been cleaned. The machine is finished off with a protective, museum-quality wax in order to protect the paint from oxidation, dirt, scratches and fingerprints.
*MECHANICS: As with all our serviced typewriters - this one is in outstanding mechanical condition. As part of our restoration process this typewriter has received a new key rest and new ink. It has been cleaned, polished, tested, aligned, fine tuned and waxed. It is ready to withstand many hours of smooth typing. It is a heavy, desktop writer - about 8kg.
*CASE: Comes with a red leather case with good functioning lock and a small key. The leather case's bottom plate has a crack in the middle. Case works as it should, in mild vintage condition. Typewriter can be stored and carried in the case.
*OUR RECOMMENDATION: We always recommend antique typewriters like this one for typing, recommended for heavy daily typing, too. This typewriter has new ink. All machines have an installed new ink ribbon which should last at least 500 A4 pages.
